Day 14 (September 27, 2025): Edinburgh - Basel
The last day - The return has begun
(by Florian)
Wakey, wakey. You might remember our first day started very early and it was the same today, our last day. Again, some of us had only twohours of sleep, which lead to many sleepy faces in the final moments of staying in our luxury apartments. Then we had to push and pull our suitcases through the half-awake streets of Edinburgh until we arrived at the train station. On the train to London, some of us had last conversations with local people (even a famous author was among us: Tim Prescott) while others just desperately wanted to catch up on their loss of sleep. Luckily everything went well, and we all arrived in London. Next, we had to go through the security and passport check, where, unlike the first time on the way to Scotland, the security team were actually chill and nice. (no analog films were harmed this time) Then we took the Eurostar to Paris, suddenly we lost an hour (Time zones) which made us happy because it seemed to shorten our journey. In the Eurostar we gained some very interesting information about the train ride, such as that the tunnel passes 100 meters under the water, that the train was 330 km per hour fast and that the train can carry 900 passengers. Now we are on the last train from Colmar to Basel SBB and are honestly pretty tired and happy to finally get home to our families and our own beds. However, we’ve got all the friends and memories we made on our journey treasured in our heart. Okay, it’s getting really late and way too emotional. So, let’s just keep it short. Thank you for accompanying us to Scotland. And if you aren’t sleeping already – got to bed, it’s late!
